Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi issued a stern warning against external interference in the Taiwan region during strategic talks with Tajikistan's Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin in Dushanbe on Saturday. The top diplomat emphasized China's unwavering commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty amid rising tensions with Japan over recent provocative remarks.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, stated: "China will never allow right-wing forces in Japan to reverse historical progress, nor tolerate external meddling in Taiwan or the resurgence of militarism." His comments come as Beijing intensifies efforts to counter what it views as Japan's overreach on Taiwan-related issues.
The dialogue marked strengthened cooperation between China and Tajikistan in upholding the one-China principle, which recognizes Taiwan as an inalienable part of Chinese territory. Wang called for collective preservation of post-WWII international order achievements, particularly relevant as 2025 marks 80 years since the conflict's conclusion.
This development follows Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent statements about Taiwan that drew sharp criticism from Beijing. Chinese authorities have demanded Tokyo retract what they describe as "erroneous words and deeds" regarding cross-strait affairs.
