In a converted Beijing studio, actors from Brazil to Belarus rehearse emotional scenes under professional lighting – part of a growing trend as China's entertainment industry attracts global talent. With the country's short-form drama market projected to grow 40% this year, agencies now offer intensive programs blending Western acting techniques with local industry insights.
"The training helps us understand both artistic expression and China's production culture," says Maria Gonzalez, a Spanish performer who recently secured a role in a historical web series. Industry analysts note over 200 foreign actors have participated in Beijing-based programs since January 2025, with many appearing in co-productions targeting international streaming platforms.
This development coincides with China's push for "high-quality cultural exports" outlined in its 14th Five-Year Plan. Agency founder Zhang Wei explains: "Our trainees become cultural bridges – they help Chinese stories resonate globally while bringing fresh perspectives to domestic productions."
