In an exclusive interview with CGTN Sports Scene this week, ATP Chief Executive Eno Polo emphasized China's growing influence on professional tennis worldwide. The Kenyan executive, who has led the men's tennis tour since 2021, described China as "a cornerstone market shaping tennis' future" during his conversation with anchor Greg Laffradi.
"What we're seeing in 2025 is unprecedented engagement from Chinese partners and fans," Polo stated, noting that three of this year's eight new ATP tournament sponsors hail from the Chinese mainland. The sports executive highlighted Shanghai's upgraded Rolex Masters facility and Beijing's innovative youth development programs as key drivers of regional growth.
When asked about tennis' unique global appeal, Polo pointed to recent cross-cultural initiatives: "The sport transcends borders – we've seen Chinese brands activating at Roland Garros, while European players now regularly train in Guangdong. This reciprocal exchange defines modern tennis."
The interview concluded with Polo confirming plans for expanded ATP Challenger Tour events in Chengdu and Xiamen next season, signaling continued investment in China's tennis infrastructure.
