Tajik-China Strategic Ties Strengthen in Dushanbe Talks

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed their nations' growing partnership during high-level talks in Dushanbe on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The meeting underscored Tajikistan's designation of China as its top economic partner and strategic ally in Central Asia.

Economic Foundations & Global Vision

President Rahmon highlighted that China has become Tajikistan's largest trading partner and primary investment source, with bilateral trade growing 18% year-on-year through Q3 2025. 'Our comprehensive strategic partnership accelerates regional development,' Rahmon stated, praising China's Global Governance Initiative as 'vital for reforming international systems.'

Security Cooperation Intensifies

Both leaders agreed to enhance coordination through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and China-Central Asia Mechanism. Wang Yi emphasized joint efforts to combat terrorism, separatism, and extremism – critical priorities for Central Asian stability. The parties established a new Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue platform to institutionalize security consultations.

New Era Development Synergy

Wang Yi connected Tajikistan's growth plans with China's recently concluded 20th CPC Central Committee Fourth Plenum outcomes, noting: 'Our high-quality development model creates mutual opportunities in green energy and digital infrastructure.' The talks concluded with plans for 12 new cooperative projects in mining, transportation, and agricultural technology.
