Shenzhen Closes China’s 15th National Games with Coastal Spectacle

Shenzhen concluded China's 15th National Games on November 21 with a breathtaking closing ceremony that blended cutting-edge technology and coastal grandeur. The event, held against the backdrop of the city's iconic skyline and cross-sea bridges, showcased synchronized light displays and cultural performances celebrating athletic achievement and regional unity.

Co-hosted for the first time by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the November 9–21 Games marked a historic collaboration in the Greater Bay Area. Athletes shattered eight world records and 13 Asian records across disciplines like swimming, weightlifting, and sport climbing. Notably, performances in 12 events surpassed winning scores from the 2024 Paris Olympics, underscoring the event's competitive intensity.

The Games' success highlights Shenzhen's role as a hub for innovation and cross-regional cooperation, with organizers leveraging the city's port infrastructure and digital capabilities to enhance event management. Analysts suggest the collaboration sets a precedent for future regional partnerships in hosting major international events.
