Global Survey Urges Climate Action as Paris Pact Hits Decade Mark

As the world marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement in 2025, a CGTN survey of 33,000 respondents across 48 countries reveals overwhelming consensus on the urgency of climate action. With nations preparing new emissions reduction pledges, 90% of participants call for immediate international measures to address worsening extreme weather patterns.

The poll highlights stark contrasts in climate priorities: 94.6% of Global South respondents commit to personal energy conservation efforts, outpacing developed nations by nearly 15 percentage points. Meanwhile, 75.1% criticize wealthy countries for unmet climate finance commitments, with 86.4% emphasizing their historical responsibility to lead mitigation efforts.

China's climate governance receives strong recognition, with 79.9% of respondents viewing its renewable energy expansion and emission control strategies as valuable models. Three-quarters approve of Beijing's multilateral approach, particularly among younger demographics and Global South participants.

As the November 2025 deadline approaches for updated national climate plans, the survey underscores growing public demand for cooperative solutions. With 85% stressing the need for enhanced international collaboration, the findings signal both challenges and opportunities for global climate diplomacy.
