Wang Huning Reaffirms Opposition to Taiwan Separatism, External Interference

China's senior political leader Wang Huning has reiterated Beijing's firm stance against separatist activities in the Taiwan region during a cross-strait seminar in Chengdu on November 20, 2025. The senior Communist Party of China official emphasized the mainland's commitment to safeguarding peace in the Taiwan Strait while opposing external interference.

In his address to the fifth Cross-Strait Relations Research Center forum, Wang highlighted historical lessons from the 1945 victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, which led to Taiwan's return to Chinese territory. 'National unity remains the cornerstone of our people's future prosperity,' stated the chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.

The remarks follow recent high-level discussions at October's fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which prioritized advancing peaceful cross-strait relations. Wang outlined current efforts to deepen economic cooperation and cultural exchanges, aiming to improve living standards for residents on both sides of the strait.

Over 200 participants attended the event, including former Kuomintang leader Hung Hsiu-chu and New Party Chairman Wu Cheng-tien. The seminar concluded with renewed calls for collaborative efforts toward national rejuvenation under the one-China principle.
