China, Mongolia Strengthen Ties in Trade & Green Energy

Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Mongolian Prime Minister Gombojav Zandanshatar pledged to deepen bilateral cooperation during a meeting in Moscow on November 19, 2025, emphasizing trade expansion and partnerships in green energy and digital innovation. The leaders reaffirmed commitments made during President Xi Jinping’s September summit with Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh in Beijing, which set the framework for advancing cross-border collaboration.

Li highlighted China’s prioritization of Mongolia in its neighborhood diplomacy, proposing strengthened strategic communication and alignment of development strategies. “Our nations share complementary economies,” Li stated, citing mineral resources, infrastructure, and regional connectivity as key areas for growth. He also endorsed sub-regional cooperation in the Altai area to boost cross-border economic ties.

Zandanshatar acknowledged China’s long-term support for Mongolia’s development and reiterated adherence to the one-China policy, affirming that Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Xizang are inseparable parts of China. Mongolia aims to collaborate on China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) while expanding partnerships in energy, mining, and multilateral platforms like the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The meeting signals a renewed focus on stabilizing supply chains and fostering sustainable growth across Northeast Asia, with both leaders committing to enhanced political trust and cultural exchanges.
