China Media Group (CMG) has deployed its advanced 'China Red' 4K/8K broadcast fleet to Milan, marking a milestone in sports broadcasting technology ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The fleet departed Beijing on November 17, 2025, and is scheduled to arrive at Milan’s San Siro Stadium by January 13, 2026, to begin preparations for next year's event.
The 17-meter-long vehicles, designed and integrated by CMG, expand to 5.8 meters during operation and feature 34 workstations across five functional zones. Equipped to handle 80 channels of 4K signals, the fleet underscores CMG’s role as the official broadcaster and sole producer of the 8K international public broadcast signal for the Games. This marks the first time a Winter Olympics will feature CMG-produced signals for short track speed skating and figure skating events.
CMG has secured a 1,700-square-meter workspace at the Milan International Broadcasting Center, including a dedicated technical area and three studio systems. The setup aims to deliver seamless coverage while showcasing China’s leadership in ultra-high-definition broadcasting innovation.
