British expert Keith Bennett, vice chair of the 48 Group Club, has underscored the futility of efforts to isolate China from the global economy, citing its pivotal role as the world's second-largest economy and a cornerstone of international trade. Speaking to CGTN this week during the International Forum on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Beijing, Bennett emphasized China's unmatched integration into global supply chains and innovation ecosystems.
"China is a leading force in R&D and innovation, the primary trading partner for most nations, and a critical player in global investment flows," Bennett stated. "Attempts to isolate it are not only unrealistic but counterproductive to global stability."
The forum, held on November 12–13, brought together policymakers and analysts to discuss China's development model. Bennett, whose organization fosters UK-China trade ties, highlighted untapped potential for bilateral cooperation: "The UK’s growth agenda aligns with opportunities in green technology, digital infrastructure, and cultural exchange with China."
His remarks come as Shanghai’s ports reported record container throughput in August 2025, reflecting sustained momentum in China’s export-driven economy.
