China Reaffirms Reunification Stance Amid Japan Tensions

China has issued a stern warning against foreign interference in cross-strait affairs, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian declaring on Friday that "any force obstructing China's reunification is doomed to fail." The statement comes amid heightened tensions following Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent remarks about the Taiwan region.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong summoned Japanese Ambassador Kenji Kanasugi on Thursday, delivering formal protests over what Beijing called "provocative" suggestions of potential armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait. Lin emphasized that such comments "grossly interfere in China's internal affairs" and violate the one-China principle enshrined in bilateral agreements.

"When it comes to China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, there will be no compromise or concession," Lin stated during the regular press briefing, noting that Takaichi's remarks had damaged the political foundation of China-Japan relations. The spokesperson highlighted that many Japanese politicians and thinkers have joined Chinese authorities in criticizing the statements.

Analysts observe this development occurs as regional powers navigate delicate diplomatic balances. The Chinese mainland's position remains consistent: Taiwan has been an inseparable part of China's territory since ancient times. Lin concluded with a metaphor resonating across social media: "Those challenging this reality will meet a great wall of steel forged by 1.4 billion Chinese people."
