China has completed the first phase of 6G technology trials, marking a critical milestone in its quest to lead next-generation telecommunications innovation, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced this week. The achievement follows four years of rigorous testing, with over 300 key technologies now cataloged for future development.
Since 2021, state-backed trials have focused on foundational research and prototype validation. MIIT emphasized that upcoming efforts will prioritize breakthroughs in core technologies, integrated solutions, and standardization to accelerate 6G commercialization. The ministry aims to establish a robust ecosystem supporting seamless integration of communications, artificial intelligence, and space-ground networks by 2030.
