China, U.S. to Continue Talks on Trade Affiliates Rule Post-Suspension

China's Commerce Ministry confirmed on November 11, 2025, that Beijing and Washington will maintain dialogue regarding trade regulations affecting multinational corporations, following the conclusion of a one-year suspension of the U.S. affiliates rule. The discussions aim to establish stable frameworks for cross-border business operations amid evolving global economic conditions.

The temporary pause, initially implemented in November 2024, provided relief to companies navigating complex compliance requirements. With the suspension period ending this month, both nations have emphasized their commitment to 'pragmatic solutions that serve mutual interests,' according to a ministry spokesperson.

Analysts suggest the renewed negotiations could significantly impact supply chain strategies for technology and manufacturing sectors. The talks coincide with preparations for the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, where trade policies remain a key agenda item for member economies.

Business leaders in Asia have welcomed the development, noting that clearer regulations would benefit enterprises operating across the Chinese mainland and overseas markets. The ministry reiterated its support for 'open, rules-based international trade systems' while safeguarding national economic security.
