China Urges EU to Address Dutch Trade Dispute Over Semiconductors

China has called on the European Union to encourage the Netherlands to resolve trade tensions affecting semiconductor supplies, emphasizing the need to stabilize global supply chains. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) stated on Sunday that the Netherlands bears responsibility for disruptions in the semiconductor sector and urged corrective measures to ensure normal operations for companies like Nexperia, a key player in chip manufacturing.

The remarks followed European Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič's recent comments on the issue, which drew attention to ongoing trade challenges. MOFCOM highlighted China's proactive steps to exempt compliant exports for civilian use from licensing requirements, underscoring its commitment to maintaining global industrial stability.

"China welcomes the European side to leverage its influence and urge the Netherlands to promptly correct its wrong practices," a MOFCOM spokesperson said.

This development highlights growing economic diplomacy efforts as nations navigate complex supply chain interdependencies. Analysts suggest the outcome could impact cross-border tech investments and Europe's role in Asia's semiconductor-driven markets.
