China Launches ‘Big Market for All’ Initiative to Boost Global Trade

Shanghai set the stage for a new chapter in global economic cooperation as Chinese authorities unveiled the "Big Market for All: Export to China" initiative on Tuesday. The launch precedes the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE), reinforcing the country\u2019s commitment to balanced trade growth and institutional openness.

Expanding Opportunities Through Pragmatic Steps

Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao emphasized the initiative\u2019s role in creating "diversified channels" for global goods to access the Chinese market. Ten themed events will highlight innovative measures to share opportunities from China\u2019s 1.4 billion consumers, fostering a "new pattern of win-win cooperation." Wang noted the initiative aligns with China\u2019s support for economic globalization and a robust multilateral trading system.

Global Business Leaders Voice Confidence

Over 300 attendees, including representatives from international organizations and foreign enterprises, endorsed the initiative. Luca de Meo of Kering Group, Craig Allen of the U.S.-China Business Council, and Tetsuro Honma of the China-Japan Chamber of Commerce praised China\u2019s market potential and institutional reforms. "China is not just a consumer market but a cooperative partner," said Allen, reflecting widespread optimism about the economy\u2019s stability and growth prospects.

The initiative underscores China\u2019s evolving role as a hub for global trade innovation, offering fresh pathways for businesses and investors to engage with Asia\u2019s largest economy.
