The 2025 ASEAN Media Partners Cooperation Week kicked off in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Monday, with China Media Group (CMG) and regional authorities co-hosting the event under the theme "Openness, Culture, and a Shared Home." Over 200 attendees, including government officials, ambassadors, media professionals, and experts from China and ASEAN countries, gathered to discuss digital innovation and cross-cultural collaboration.
Fan Yun, CMG deputy editor-in-chief, highlighted the role of technology in media evolution, stating that AI, big data, and cloud communication are "sails" driving cross-border cooperation. He emphasized CMG's commitment to leveraging its 85-language network and global platforms to amplify stories of China-ASEAN mutual development.
In a video address, Khamphanh Pheuyavong of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee praised the initiative as a reaffirmation of China-ASEAN ties. "Media now bridges cultures in our digital age," he said, urging joint efforts to build a "community of shared destiny" through positive storytelling.
The week-long event aims to foster new strategies for media collaboration, aligning with China's high-level opening-up policies and Belt and Road initiatives. Discussions will focus on sustainable partnerships and cultural exchange mechanisms to strengthen regional connectivity.
