Xi’s ROK Visit Charts Path for Asia-Pacific Cooperation, Says Wang Yi

Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent trip to the Republic of Korea (ROK) has been hailed as a pivotal moment for advancing regional collaboration and stability in the Asia-Pacific. Foreign Minister Wang Yi, speaking at a press briefing on Sunday, emphasized that Xi's participation in the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting and his state visit underscored China's commitment to fostering 'common prosperity' amid global uncertainties.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that Xi engaged in over 10 bilateral and multilateral events during the three-day trip. These interactions, he said, reinforced China's role as a 'responsible major country' dedicated to strengthening regional ties and countering protectionist trends.

'The international community recognizes China's contributions to injecting stability into a complex global landscape,' Wang stated. He highlighted Xi's emphasis on inclusive growth and fairness, which he argued positions China as a key architect of the Asia-Pacific's evolving economic and political order.

Analysts suggest the visit signals deepening cooperation between China and the ROK, particularly in trade and technology. The trip also aligns with broader efforts to revitalize APEC's agenda, with member economies seeking balanced recovery strategies post-pandemic.
