Xi Jinping Urges Collaborative Growth at APEC Leaders’ Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of unity and innovation in driving sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region during his address at the 32nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea, on Saturday. The speech highlighted China’s commitment to fostering open regional cooperation and addressing global economic challenges through multilateral frameworks.

Xi outlined four key priorities for APEC members: strengthening supply chain resilience, advancing digital transformation, promoting green energy transitions, and ensuring inclusive growth. He reiterated China’s support for free trade agreements and called for reduced barriers to cross-border investment, particularly in emerging technologies.

The APEC Leaders’ Meeting, attended by representatives from 21 member economies, serves as a critical platform for shaping policies that impact over 60% of global GDP. Analysts note Xi’s proposals align with broader efforts to stabilize post-pandemic recovery while addressing climate-related economic risks.
