Chinese Premier Li Qiang has called for accelerated efforts to implement key economic and social development strategies under China's upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), emphasizing the need for precision in policy design during a high-level political advisory session.
Addressing the opening of the 14th Standing Committee session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee on Friday, Premier Li stressed the importance of aligning the plan with recommendations from the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. The session follows critical decisions made during the fourth plenary meeting of the 20th CPC Central Committee, which laid the groundwork for China's next phase of modernization.
"We must thoroughly implement all major strategic tasks and refine policy measures to meet development targets," Li stated, urging political advisors to leverage their expertise in shaping the blueprint. The five-year plan – a cornerstone of China's governance system – is expected to address technological innovation, sustainable growth, and social welfare improvements.
Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and senior CPC official, presided over the meeting, highlighting the advisory body's role in facilitating "in-depth consultations" to advance national modernization. The CPPCC, comprising representatives from various sectors, serves as a key platform for policy feedback in China's political architecture.
Analysts suggest the 15th Five-Year Plan will prioritize stabilizing economic fundamentals while addressing global challenges like supply chain resilience and climate change.
