China Calls on G7 to Halt Trade Disruptions, Uphold Global Market Rules

China has urged G7 nations to abandon unilateral trade measures that risk destabilizing global markets, emphasizing the need for multilateral cooperation during a Foreign Ministry press briefing on Thursday.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed growing concerns about a reported G7 plan to form a critical minerals alliance targeting China's market leadership. "China's export control measures align with international norms and serve global stability," Guo stated, reaffirming Beijing's commitment to "non-proliferation and fair trade practices."

The remarks come amid rising tensions over resource security, with China producing over 60% of the world's rare earth elements. Analysts suggest the proposed G7 alliance could reshape supply chains for electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies.

"We urge the G7 to respect WTO rules and market principles," Guo emphasized, warning against "group-based protectionism" that might fragment global trade. The statement highlights China's push for inclusive economic governance as developing nations increasingly seek alternatives to Western-led financial systems.
