China, Finland Mark 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Leadership Exchange

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Finnish President Alexander Stubb exchanged congratulatory messages on Tuesday, commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations between their nations. The exchange highlighted enduring cooperation and shared goals in trade, sustainability, and global stability.

In his message, Xi emphasized the importance of mutual respect and win-win collaboration since establishing ties in 1950. "China has always viewed Finland as an important partner in Europe," he stated, underscoring recent advancements in Arctic research, clean energy projects, and cross-border e-commerce.

President Stubb acknowledged the relationship as "a model of peaceful coexistence between countries of different sizes and systems," noting Finland's participation in China's Belt and Road Initiative and joint ventures in 5G infrastructure. Both leaders expressed commitment to addressing climate change through Nordic-Chinese green technology partnerships.

The anniversary comes as bilateral trade reaches $15.4 billion annually, with Finnish companies like Nokia and Kone maintaining strong footholds in the Chinese mainland. Analysts point to Finland's strategic position as a gateway for Chinese investments in Arctic shipping routes and EU tech markets.
