Yin Haigang, charge d'affaires of China's Permanent Mission to UN organizations in Vienna, emphasized China's readiness to build on the legacy of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women during Monday's gathering.
The forum, co-organized by China's diplomatic mission, the University of Vienna's Confucius Institute, and the United Nations Women's Guild, showcased China's achievements in women's poverty reduction, healthcare access, and workforce participation. Participants from 40+ countries and regions praised China's practical approaches to gender equality as potential blueprints for developing nations.
'China's experience demonstrates that targeted policies in education and economic inclusion can create transformative change,' Yin stated, noting that women's full participation remains crucial for achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals. Austrian business leaders and Chinese delegates exchanged success stories about bridging gender gaps in STEM fields and cultural preservation.
The event concluded with calls for enhanced international data sharing and capacity-building programs, particularly in digital literacy and maternal health initiatives. This dialogue comes as UN Women reports global progress on gender parity slowing across multiple indicators since 2020.
