Hong Kong's seventh-term Legislative Council (LegCo) concluded its four-year term with a historic legislative output, passing 130 bills—49 more than its predecessor. Starry Lee, chairperson of the LegCo House Committee, hailed the achievement as a reflection of the legislative body's enhanced effectiveness under the executive-led governance model.
Speaking on Monday, Lee emphasized that legislators upheld their roles as 'steadfast patriots' and 'defenders of the executive-led system,' balancing public representation with governance priorities. The collaboration between legislative and executive branches, she noted, has strengthened the implementation of the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle while improving administrative efficiency.
As the current term ends, Lee expressed optimism for continued cooperation under the chief executive's leadership, urging the incoming eighth LegCo to prioritize public service through closer communication with the executive branch.
