CMG Pioneers 8K Broadcasts for Milano Cortina Winter Olympics
China Media Group (CMG) has dispatched its first shipment of advanced broadcasting equipment to Italy for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, marking a milestone in global sports media production. The shipment includes 1,026 items transported via 18 box trucks from Beijing, with plans for additional deliveries by air, sea, and rail in the coming months.
Breaking New Ground in Sports Broadcasting
As the sole media organization handling 8K signal production for the Games, CMG will lead 4K ultra-high-definition coverage of figure skating and short-track speed skating events. The equipment—including cutting-edge 'Chinese Red' UHD broadcasting vehicles and a cube UHD system—will first undergo testing at China's 15th National Games in November before deployment in Italy.
A Technological Leap Forward
Wang Dagang, CMG's technical lead for the project, emphasized the historic significance: "This marks the first time Chinese-developed systems will manage Olympic ceremony broadcasts, showcasing our technological progress on the world stage." The initiative aims to diversify broadcast technology traditionally dominated by Western systems.
