China’s Space Documentary Debuts at Glion Human Rights Dialogue

China's groundbreaking 8K space documentary, filmed entirely by astronauts aboard the nation's space station, captivated audiences at the Glion Human Rights Dialogue in Switzerland on Thursday. Titled "Shenzhou-13" or "Blue Planet Outside the Window," the 90-minute film offers a rare glimpse into life 400 kilometers above Earth during a six-month orbital mission.

Featuring narration by Wang Yaping, China's first female astronaut to conduct a spacewalk, the documentary blends scientific experimentation with poetic visuals of Earth's curvature and auroras. Viewers witness crew members Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping, and Ye Guangfu conducting fluid dynamics tests, exercising in microgravity, and sharing personal reflections on humanity's shared home.

The screening marks the film's third major showcase following its August premiere in China and September London debut. Analysts note its timing coincides with growing international interest in China's space program, which completed construction of its Tiangong space station in 2022.
