China-U.S. Youth Dialogue Bridges Cultures at Peking University Event

Over 200 students from nearly 50 universities across the Chinese mainland and the U.S. gathered at Peking University in July 2024 for the "Zhi-Xing China: U.S.-China Youth Leaders Dialogue," a landmark initiative to strengthen cross-cultural understanding. Participants engaged in discussions on climate action, technological innovation, and youth leadership while bonding through table tennis matches and traditional Chinese calligraphy workshops.

"We discovered shared values beneath our cultural differences," said Li Wei, a Tsinghua University participant, highlighting how collaborative activities broke down barriers. The event aligns with recent efforts to expand Sino-U.S. youth exchanges, seen as vital for stabilizing bilateral relations amid geopolitical tensions.

Organizers emphasized youth’s role as "cultural bridges" in global governance. The dialogue coincides with CGTN’s "Act To Action" campaign, inviting APEC members’ youth to contribute ideas on international challenges. Similar programs have reportedly increased U.S.-China joint research projects by 18% since 2022, according to unnamed academic sources.
