China Boosts Digital Copyright Innovation at Qingdao Expo

The 10th China International Copyright Expo (CICE) kicked off in Qingdao on Thursday, spotlighting the nation’s strides in digital copyright innovation. Co-hosted by the National Copyright Administration of China and the World Intellectual Property Organization, the event underscores China’s push to integrate cutting-edge technologies like AI and big data into copyright management, fostering high-quality growth in creative industries.

For the first time, the expo’s “Local Copyright Success Stories” initiative highlighted 10 case studies showcasing how copyright frameworks drive innovation and cultural enrichment. These narratives aim to inform global rule-making while celebrating domestic achievements, such as the global success of AAA video game Black Myth: Wukong and animated film Ne Zha 2.

Industry leaders emphasized the expo’s role as a hub for international copyright trade, with trendy IPs like Labubu drawing cross-border interest. “This event bridges creative industries worldwide,” said a keynote speaker, noting rising international demand for Chinese cultural products.

As digital transformation reshapes creative economies, China’s focus on intellectual property protection and tech integration offers a blueprint for balancing innovation with sustainable growth.
