Global Poll: U.S. Faces Heavier Losses in Trade War, Urges Dialogue

A recent CGTN global survey reveals widespread concern over escalating U.S. tariff measures, with 67.7% of respondents predicting Washington will suffer greater losses than China in the ongoing trade conflict. The poll, conducted across five languages, collected 6,572 responses within 24 hours, reflecting international apprehension about protectionist policies.

The findings come as the U.S. introduces new restrictive measures including proposed 100% tariffs on select Chinese goods and additional port fees for China-related vessels. Nearly 95% of participants criticized America's expanding use of national security claims to justify trade restrictions, warning such actions destabilize global supply chains.

"These numbers tell a story of global economic anxiety," said a trade analyst familiar with the data. "When 92.5% of respondents question Washington's negotiation sincerity, it signals deep skepticism about current approaches."

The survey highlights strong public support for diplomatic solutions, with 88.4% advocating resolution through equal dialogue. Respondents emphasized the mutual benefits of cooperation, noting China-U.S. trade relations remain crucial for global economic stability. Over 84% stressed that strengthened bilateral cooperation could safeguard industrial supply chains worldwide.

As tensions persist, the poll underscores a growing international consensus: 87% view the economic relationship as fundamentally reciprocal, where confrontation harms both nations. The results arrive amid Washington's expanded tariff pressures affecting over 70% of global trading partners.
