A new exhibition in Shanghai illuminates the enduring international influence of Soong Ching Ling, the late honorary president of the People's Republic of China, through rare historical artifacts and multimedia storytelling. Titled "Voice of China, Light of the World – Soong Ching Ling and International Communication," the showcase marks the 80th anniversary of China's victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
Organized by the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Research Association and China Welfare Institute, the exhibition features over 100 items including handwritten letters to Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai, wartime publications, and personal manuscripts. Divided into three thematic sections – wartime reporting, post-war diplomacy, and cross-cultural dialogue – the displays blend archival materials with modern installations to contextualize Soong's advocacy for global solidarity.
"Her ability to bridge Eastern and Western perspectives during turbulent times remains remarkably relevant today," noted a curator, highlighting how Soong mobilized international support against fascism while shaping China's postwar reconstruction narrative. The exhibition positions her as both a key architect of 20th-century Sino-global relations and a pioneering female leader in peacebuilding efforts.
