China’s Holiday Tourism Surge: Global Visitors Flock for Culture & Scenery

China's National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays have sparked a remarkable surge in inbound tourism, with international travelers drawn to the country's iconic landmarks and cultural treasures. The National Immigration Administration (NIA) predicts daily border crossings will average 2 million between October 1-8, signaling a robust recovery in post-pandemic travel demand.

Travel platform Qunar reports bookings from foreign tourists covering nearly 100 cities, with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Spain, and South Korea among the top 10 source markets showing significant growth. Beijing's Forbidden City, Shanghai's futuristic skyline, and Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors remain prime attractions, according to Travel and Tour World Magazine.

Analysts attribute the tourism boom to streamlined visa policies and China's promotion of its UNESCO World Heritage sites. "This reflects growing global interest in China's living history," said tourism expert Li Wei. "Visitors want to experience both ancient traditions and modern innovation."

The trend offers opportunities for hospitality businesses while highlighting Asia's evolving role in global cultural exchange. With Lunar New Year travel already being planned, industry watchers predict sustained growth in China's tourism sector.
