Beijing Daxing Airport Braces for 1.3M Holiday Travelers

Beijing Daxing International Airport is preparing for its busiest National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday season yet, projecting over 1.3 million passenger trips between October 1-8. The travel hub plans to operate 7,925 flights during the period – a 4.6% year-on-year increase – as China's post-pandemic travel demand continues to rebound.

Domestic routes connecting major economic zones like the Yangtze River Delta and Chengdu-Chongqing region are seeing particularly strong demand, driven by family reunions and tourism. International travel is also recovering, with Osaka, Seoul, and Doha among top destinations. Cross-border trips are expected to surpass 140,000 during the holiday window.

The surge reflects broader national trends, with China's transport authorities predicting 2.36 billion passenger trips across all modes of transportation. Airlines nationwide anticipate handling 19.2 million air passengers – a 3.6% increase from 2022 and the highest volume recorded for this holiday period.

Since opening in September 2019, Daxing Airport has become a critical aviation hub, servicing 182 million passengers through 1.34 million flights. Its current roster of 70 airlines positions it as a key driver of Beijing's economic connectivity.
