China Media Group (CMG) and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) have pledged to strengthen collaboration in media, culture, and international communication under a new framework agreement signed Sunday. The partnership aims to amplify Macao's global voice while advancing cultural integration within China's development strategy.
Key initiatives include joint news production, talent development programs, and promoting historical tourism routes. Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai emphasized the deal's role in enhancing the region's international communication capabilities, calling it a milestone in implementing the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle with Macao characteristics.
CMG President Shen Haixiong revealed plans for documentary co-productions highlighting Macao's unique cultural blend. 'This cooperation will help showcase Macao's successful integration of Chinese heritage with global influences,' he stated during the signing ceremony.
The agreement aligns with broader efforts to position Macao as a cultural exchange hub. Zheng Xincong of the Central People's Government Liaison Office noted the partnership would create new platforms for sharing Macao's development stories globally while supporting CMG's transformation into a world-class media organization.
Analysts suggest the collaboration could boost Macao's post-pandemic recovery by elevating its international profile through media projects and cultural initiatives. The deal comes as both parties prepare for the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to China in December 2024.
