Budapest Event Highlights Cross-Cultural Collaboration Through Architecture
A high-profile cultural exchange event titled "Common Fate, Common Future" brought together Chinese and Hungarian dignitaries in Budapest on September 26, showcasing the documentary "L.E. HUDEC" about the Hungarian architect who shaped Shanghai's skyline. Co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG), Hungarian media authorities, and the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, the gathering emphasized media's role in fostering bilateral understanding.
CMG President Shen Haixiong highlighted the documentary's unique approach to chronicling architect László Hudec's legacy through rare historical materials. "These stories of cross-cultural creation remind us that shared heritage transcends borders," Shen noted during his address.
Chinese Ambassador Gong Tao praised the documentary's Hungarian broadcast as "a testament to thriving cultural cooperation" between the two nations. Hungarian Deputy State Secretary Csaba Gabor emphasized Hudec's architectural works as "living bridges connecting our cultures," referencing landmarks like Shanghai's Park Hotel.
The Hungarian-language version of "L.E. HUDEC" has drawn growing audiences since its September 6 premiere on national television, with multiple reruns planned through 2024. Director Chen Qing shared behind-the-scenes insights from filming at Budapest University of Technology and Economics during the event.
Nagy Judit, President of the Hungarian-China Friendship Association, stated: "Cultural exchanges lay the foundation for stronger diplomatic and economic partnerships – this is our mission."
