Xi’s Xinjiang Visit Ignites Momentum for Regional Modernization

Residents and officials across northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region have expressed renewed determination to advance regional development following President Xi Jinping's recent visit. The Chinese leader attended celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of Xinjiang's establishment as an autonomous region, where he called for building a modernized Xinjiang characterized by ethnic unity, ecological sustainability, and shared prosperity.

During his September 23-25 visit, Xi emphasized the need to strengthen social stability and improve living standards through targeted economic policies. Local professionals highlighted transformative changes since 2012, with community leader Ma Lingxiang noting: "Our sense of security and fulfillment grows daily through improved healthcare and education systems."

Economic data reveals Xinjiang's remarkable growth trajectory, with regional GDP reaching 2 trillion yuan ($281.4 billion) in 2024 – a 203-fold increase since 1955. Poverty alleviation efforts lifted 3.06 million rural residents out of destitution by 2020, according to official reports.

Cultural performer Halimulati Rexiti described the region's social progress: "Ethnic groups now unite like pomegranate seeds – inseparable and thriving together." Tourism official Peng Ziyuan outlined plans to leverage Xinjiang's unique cultural assets, aiming to establish the region as a global travel destination through strategic resource integration.

Local administrators like Hetian official Bai Lin reaffirmed commitments to implement CPC development strategies, particularly in fostering ethnic integration and industrial specialization. Village leader Tang Peike emphasized grassroots efforts to develop signature industries and achieve common prosperity, reflecting Xi's vision for sustainable regional advancement.
