China has extended an open invitation to nations sharing its vision for equitable global governance to join the BRICS alliance, reinforcing the bloc's role as a cornerstone of cooperation among developing economies. Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun announced on Friday that Beijing welcomes “like-minded partners” to collaborate within the BRICS framework, emphasizing its commitment to fostering a “more just and reasonable international order.”
The remarks came during a press briefing addressing speculation about Palestinian participation in BRICS. Guo highlighted the bloc’s growing influence, stating it has become a “key platform” for advancing multipolarity and amplifying the voices of emerging markets. “BRICS cooperation injects strong momentum into the democratization of international relations,” he said, noting its widespread recognition across the Global South.
Analysts suggest China’s stance signals a strategic push to expand BRICS’ geopolitical footprint amid shifting global power dynamics. The alliance, originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has increasingly positioned itself as a counterbalance to Western-dominated institutions.
