Chinese Peacekeepers Earn Praise in Lebanon for Medical Contributions

Salma Bayoud, a Lebanese healthcare worker, has collaborated closely with the Chinese Medical Contingent since its deployment to Lebanon under UN peacekeeping mandates. In an emotional reflection, she described the contingent’s work as “a blessing” and expressed hope for their continued presence in the region.

The Chinese team, part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), has provided critical medical services to local communities since 2006. Bayoud highlighted their role in treating trauma cases, conducting health education programs, and fostering cross-cultural understanding. “They’ve shown what true cooperation looks like,” she remarked, noting the contingent’s integration with local medical facilities.

This partnership underscores China’s growing role in global security initiatives, particularly in conflict-affected areas. Analysts suggest such missions strengthen diplomatic ties while addressing urgent humanitarian needs. For Lebanon’s residents, the collaboration represents both practical support and a symbol of international solidarity.
