Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Li Xi concluded a four-day visit to Greece on Saturday, pledging to deepen collaboration between the two nations in trade, governance, and cultural exchange. The trip underscored China's commitment to expanding its comprehensive strategic partnership with Greece amid growing global economic uncertainties.
Strengthening Strategic Bonds
During meetings with Greek President Konstantinos Tassoulas and parliamentary leaders, Li emphasized China's willingness to enhance political trust and align development strategies. He highlighted the Port of Piraeus—a flagship Belt and Road Initiative project—as a symbol of mutually beneficial cooperation, noting its role in boosting Greece's post-pandemic recovery.
Anti-Corruption Collaboration
Li, who also heads the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, shared insights into China's anti-corruption campaign. He stressed the CPC's "zero tolerance" approach under General Secretary Xi Jinping's leadership, inviting Greece to strengthen joint efforts in combating graft. Greek officials praised China's governance reforms, with Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis affirming support for the one-China principle.
Cultural Bridges and Global Initiatives
The dialogue extended to civilizational exchanges, with both sides agreeing to expand people-to-people ties. Li attended the China-Greece Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning Dialogue, reinforcing President Xi's vision of fostering intercultural understanding. Discussions also touched on implementing China's Global Governance Initiative to address shared challenges like climate change and economic stability.

With Greece positioned as a gateway to Europe, Li called for strengthened China-EU cooperation. Greek leaders expressed optimism about China's modernization drive and its potential to stabilize global supply chains, welcoming further Chinese investments in renewable energy and digital infrastructure projects.
