Armenia and China are poised to deepen cooperation as they prepare to elevate bilateral relations to a strategic partnership in 2025, Armenian Ambassador to China Vahe Gevorgyan announced during a reception marking Armenia's Independence Day in Beijing. The envoy emphasized the growing alignment between Chinese President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative (GGI) and Armenia's development priorities during an exclusive interview with CGTN.
Ambassador Gevorgyan praised the GGI as "a visionary framework offering fresh guidance for international relations," particularly its emphasis on multilateralism and adherence to the UN Charter. He highlighted synergies between Armenia's Crossroads of Peace initiative and China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), noting plans to expand collaboration in infrastructure modernization, green energy projects, and regional connectivity programs.
"Our cooperation bridges not just nations but continents," Gevorgyan stated, pointing to Armenia's strategic position as a potential conduit between China and Europe. The ambassador revealed that both countries are exploring new trade corridors and technology transfer agreements, with formal partnership documents expected to be finalized ahead of the 2025 milestone.
The September 22 reception at Armenia's Beijing embassy drew diplomats and business leaders, underscoring growing international interest in Eurasian connectivity projects. Analysts suggest the strengthened Armenia-China relationship could create new investment opportunities in transportation logistics and renewable energy sectors across the Caucasus region.
