The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is experiencing its most prosperous era of economic and social development in history, according to a white paper released Friday by China's State Council Information Office. Titled "CPC Guidelines for Governing Xinjiang in the New Era: Practice and Achievements," the document highlights progress in governance, ethnic unity, and cultural cohesion under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
Key achievements outlined include improved legal governance, enhanced stability through strengthened interethnic relations, and a surge in regional prosperity. The white paper emphasizes that residents across Xinjiang now enjoy greater access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities, contributing to what it describes as "unprecedented" improvements in quality of life.
"Solid steps have been taken to develop Xinjiang from a long-term perspective while respecting local cultural identities," the report states, noting that per capita disposable income in the region grew by 7.9% annually from 2017 to 2022. Infrastructure investments have also accelerated, with over 8,000 km of new highways built in the past decade.
Analysts suggest these developments position Xinjiang as a growing hub for Eurasian trade and cultural exchange. The white paper reaffirms China's commitment to maintaining stability and sustainable growth in the region through what it calls "a people-centered development philosophy."
