China Calls for Global Unity to Bolster World Peace at Beijing Forum

Senior Chinese military official Zhang Youxia emphasized the need for international collaboration to address global security challenges during his keynote address at the 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum on Wednesday. The event, attended by representatives from over 100 countries, regions, and international organizations, serves as a platform for dialogue on pressing security issues.

Zhang, a vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission, highlighted the Chinese military's commitment to fostering peace through multilateral cooperation. He referenced a recent military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, underscoring that China's defense capabilities aim to stabilize, not threaten, the international order.

'The strength of the Chinese military represents a growing force for global peace,' Zhang stated, urging participants to engage in 'equal dialogue and consultation' to tackle emerging threats. He proposed expanding military exchanges across sectors, from joint training exercises to cybersecurity initiatives, to build trust among nations.

The forum comes amid rising geopolitical tensions in Asia, with analysts noting its potential to shape regional security frameworks. Discussions are expected to cover topics ranging from maritime disputes to counterterrorism strategies, reflecting the diverse priorities of attending delegations.
