Rare Tiger and Lion Cubs to Debut During China’s National Day

Qinyang Zoo in Henan Province is preparing a special treat for wildlife enthusiasts this National Day holiday, as five Siberian tiger cubs and three rare white lion cubs make their first public appearance. Born just one month ago, the tiger cubs now weigh 2 kilograms each – a remarkable growth from their initial 800-gram birth weight.

Zookeeper Feng Xuening shared insights into their care: “They’re fed customized milk and meat every two hours. Their playful behavior already shows strong natural instincts.” The cubs’ brown fur with distinctive stripes contrasts with the snow-white coats of the lion cubs, whose unique coloration results from a rare genetic mutation.

The white lion triplets, abandoned by their mother, have been learning to walk under human care. With only dark tail tips breaking their snowy appearance, these African lion variants represent a conservation success story. Both animal groups will be showcased during China’s October 1-7 National Day celebrations, offering families an educational wildlife experience.
