The 2nd Public Security Technology Expo opened in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, this week, spotlighting China’s cutting-edge advancements in public safety technology. Among the highlights were humanoid robots and agile robotic dogs designed to assist in emergency response, crowd control, and hazardous environment operations.
Guo Meiping, reporting for CGTN, observed that these robots are equipped with AI-driven sensors and real-time data analysis capabilities. “They can navigate complex terrains, detect chemical leaks, and even communicate with civilians during crises,” Guo noted. One demonstration featured a robotic dog autonomously inspecting a simulated disaster zone, showcasing its ability to relay critical information to human responders.
Organizers emphasized the integration of such technologies into urban safety frameworks, particularly in densely populated areas. A representative from the expo stated, “These innovations aim to reduce risks for first responders while improving efficiency.”
The event also addressed ethical considerations, underscoring the importance of balancing automation with human oversight. Analysts suggest China’s focus on robotics reflects broader trends in Asia, where governments increasingly adopt smart technologies to address public safety challenges.
