China's State Council Information Office (SCIO) unveiled significant progress in agricultural modernization and rural revitalization during a Tuesday press conference, detailing achievements under the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025). Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Han Jun emphasized strengthened food security, technological innovation, and improved living standards for rural residents.
Key milestones include a 3.1% average annual growth in grain production capacity and a 16% increase in rural disposable income since 2021. Han highlighted expanded use of smart farming technologies and eco-friendly practices across 65% of China's farmland.
"Our focus on high-quality development ensures both food security for 1.4 billion people and sustainable rural prosperity," Han stated, addressing questions about climate resilience and global food market stability.
The ministry reported 12 million new rural employment opportunities created through e-commerce initiatives and agritourism, with particular emphasis on narrowing urban-rural development gaps.
