China Calls for U.S.-Japan Missile System Withdrawal Over Security Concerns

China has demanded the immediate removal of a U.S.-deployed Typhon missile system in Japan, warning that the move threatens regional stability amid rising tensions. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian condemned the deployment during Tuesday's press briefing, stating it undermines Asia's strategic security despite repeated objections.

The intermediate-range missile system was installed under the guise of joint military exercises, according to Lin, who emphasized China's "strong dissatisfaction" with the action. "This deployment escalates arms race risks and jeopardizes all nations' security interests," he said, urging Washington and Tokyo to "correct their mistakes" and prioritize regional voices.

The statement coincides with the 80th anniversary of the World Anti-Fascist War victory, a milestone highlighting Japan's wartime legacy. Lin called for Tokyo to "reflect deeply on its history of aggression" and avoid actions that "break trust with Asian neighbors."

Analysts note the Typhon system's deployment marks a strategic shift in Asia-Pacific defense alignments, with potential implications for trade routes and investor confidence. The development comes as Southeast Asian nations intensify diplomacy to balance major powers' military activities.
