China's public legal services have reached unprecedented scale, offering over 170 million consultations since 2021 while strengthening support for vulnerable groups and international engagements, according to new Ministry of Justice data released Monday.
Domestic Reach Meets Global Ambitions
Minister of Justice He Rong revealed at a press conference that the country's 830,000 legal professionals now handle 40 million cases annually. Special focus has been given to improving services for migrant workers, people with disabilities, and military families through mobile legal clinics and digital platforms.
Building Cross-Border Legal Bridges
The report highlights China's growing international legal footprint, with 207 overseas branches of Chinese law firms established across 37 countries and regions. This expansion supports the nation's 'going global' strategy through 91 legal assistance treaties and 16,000 processed international judicial cases.
Notable infrastructure includes:
- 67,000 arbitrators resolving commercial disputes
- 15,000 notaries authenticating cross-border documents
- 12,000 legal aid workers assisting low-income residents
Analysts suggest these developments position China to better protect its citizens and businesses abroad while shaping global legal norms.
