UK Sends Record Delegation to China Investment Fair, Eyes Trade Growth

The United Kingdom is making its strongest push yet to deepen economic ties with China, dispatching a 100-company delegation to the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen. As this year's guest of honor, Britain will showcase cutting-edge industries through a 400-square-meter 'Invest in Great' pavilion featuring financial services, clean energy, and life sciences.

UK Trade Commissioner Lewis Neal told state media the delegation aims to position Britain as China's top European investment partner while helping Chinese firms access British expertise during global expansion. 'Wherever Chinese companies go in the world, we want UK firms to be at their side,' Neal said, highlighting cross-sector opportunities in renewable energy and digital innovation.

The move comes as bilateral trade reaches new milestones, with British firms increasingly leveraging China's digital economy to engage consumers. Recent cultural exchanges – including Chinese influencers at London Fashion Week – signal warming commercial relations. Neal also emphasized climate collaboration, noting China's low-carbon transition aligns with UK strengths in green technology.

Established in 1997, CIFIT has grown into a premier platform attracting participants from over 120 countries and regions. This year's event runs September 8-11 in Fujian Province, a hub for cross-strait economic activity.
