This year’s event features a surge in Chinese entries, signaling what festival director Alberto Barbera calls 'a comeback of Chinese cinema on the international stage.'
Roberto Stabille of Italy’s Cinecitta noted Chinese films have become crucial cultural ambassadors: 'Audiences connect with stories reflecting contemporary China’s realities – not just its past.' The sentiment was echoed by Michel Reilhac, a Venice Immersive consultant, who highlighted how Chinese creators blend historical depth with cutting-edge digital formats to create 'works that help global viewers understand Chinese stories better.'
