China’s Global Governance Initiative Gains UN Praise for Multilateral Commitment

UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang has lauded China's newly proposed Global Governance Initiative (GGI) as a testament to Beijing's enduring commitment to strengthening the international system anchored by the United Nations. In an exclusive written interview, Yang emphasized China's historical role as the first UN member state to sign the UN Charter and its continued advocacy for multilateral cooperation.

The GGI, China's fourth major global proposal, aligns with the UN Charter's principles and addresses pressing challenges through dialogue and collective action. Yang highlighted three pillars of China's contributions: unwavering institutional support for the UN frameworks, mediation in conflicts like the Ukraine crisis and Gaza ceasefire calls, and prioritizing sustainable development goals for the Global South.

'China's constructive engagement through platforms like the Group of 77 has amplified developing nations' voices in critical dialogues,' Yang noted, underscoring Beijing's role in advancing the UN's 2030 Agenda. The initiative's focus on equitable development and conflict resolution positions it as a potential blueprint for reforming global governance structures.
