Wang Huning Stresses Unity in Meeting with Taiwan Representatives

Top political advisor Wang Huning emphasized shared historical ties and national rejuvenation during a meeting with representatives from the Taiwan region, including former Kuomintang Chairperson Hung Hsiu-chu, in Beijing on Thursday. The gathering coincided with commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Wang, a Standing Committee member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, highlighted Taiwan's return to China in 1945 as a cornerstone of the post-WWII international order. "This victory belongs to all Chinese compatriots across the strait," he stated, urging collective efforts to "preserve historical truth and advance national reunification."

The meeting underscored cross-strait cultural bonds, with Wang calling for strengthened exchanges in education, tourism, and economic cooperation. Analysts view such dialogues as crucial for maintaining stability amid evolving regional dynamics, particularly for businesses and investors navigating cross-strait relations.
