Xi Jinping, Congo President Strengthen China-Africa Ties in Beijing Meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Republic of the Congo President Denis Sassou Nguesso in Beijing on Thursday, reaffirming commitments to deepen bilateral cooperation and South-South collaboration. The meeting marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the Central African nation.

Xi emphasized China's dedication to supporting African development through infrastructure projects and green energy partnerships, while Sassou Nguesso praised China's 'win-win cooperation' approach. The leaders discussed enhanced collaboration in telecommunications, agricultural modernization, and cultural exchanges under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation framework.

Analysts note the meeting signals China's continued engagement with resource-rich African nations amid growing global competition for critical minerals. The Republic of the Congo remains a key partner in China's Belt and Road Initiative, with over $3 billion in Chinese investments in transportation and oil infrastructure since 2010.
